Why Go For a Wellness Gift?

Okay, I’ll admit. Obviously we’re biased at On the Go Wellness. What can I say? Wellness is our bread and butter. However, wellness gifts are a great choice for anyone if I do say so myself. They say “I care about your goals and your health, and support you in them”. While many gifts are great for indulgence, they can unintentionally support bad habits and make reaching someone’s goals harder. As well intentioned as you might be, do your loved one a favor and work with them, not against them. Get them something that’s good for them in the long term, not just the short term.
How to Come Up With The Best Gifts

So, now that I’ve made my case as to why wellness gifts are the way to go (not the only way – but a very good way!), let’s get into the whole “but what the h** do I even get?” conundrum. Lets break that down. Ask yourself:
What are the person’s goals? – Don’t stop at “be healthier.” Ask what this means for that individual. Do they want to sleep better? Work out more? Relieve stress? Build social connections? Remember, wellness isn’t just about your physical health.
What are their pet peeves/things they hate doing or are not good at doing? What do they struggle with? – In other words, what problem can you help solve? Do they absolutely despise cooking and rather eat cheetos for dinner than pick up a spatula? Side note, if so, I CAN relate. Do they hate waking up early? Do they have trouble making time to work out? Get creative. What are some solutions to these problems? What can you gift that would help?
What is their biggest barrier to entry for wellness? – We all have one or two. Some are legitimate, some are just plain excuses. But whatever they may be, they’re real to us. Which means we need something real to help overcome it. Is it money? Time? Self esteem? Knowledge? Or maybe something as simple as disorganization?
What would you be happy not to have to pay for? – And finally, the simplest tip of all. I’m a strong believer that the best gifts are things you would like or want, but have trouble justifying getting for yourself.
The Ideas

A digital subscription – This one has SO many options. Think of a personal training app that you join too for moral support, an annual subscription to a meditation app, a year of instacart (or some other food/grocery delivery service). The possibilities are endless, truly.
Nice to have equipment- Nice to have, but difficult to justify buying for yourself = great present. Examples that come to mind include a white noise machine, one of those fancy alarm clocks that mimic the sun, an air purifier, home workout equipment, etc.
A Chiropractic care or other wellness service gift card – we sell gift cards to “give the gift of health”. Like I said, I’m a strong believer that wellness makes a great gift. There are no shortage of other options for wellness gift cards as well, which offer the advantage of letting your loved one choose just how and when they want to spend it.
Human or dog fitness tracker – Hear me out. While the rationale for a human fitness tracker is easy, a dog fitness tracker ALSO makes sense (and yes – these are a thing. Check out this one). Think about it, if your dog’s fitness tracker is telling you your furry one needs to walk more for their health, how likely are you to get off the couch? I’d say pretty darn likely, since we love those little creatures like crazy. And just like that, bam, you’re moving more too.
Hand put together self care box – This is one of my favorite gifts to give because it’s so personalizable. Just get a bunch of items together that will make someone feel like they’re indulging in some pampering for themselves. Think of an assortment such as a cute journal, some great smelling skin care, a nice candle, some dark chocolate, etc.
Happy New Year my friends, wishing you all the health and wellness in the world!
