1. Chiropractic Care

Hey, I did say we’re sharing our secrets with you. Chiropractic care isn’t exactly our secret (it’s our bread and butter, actually), but it’s an easily forgotten tool in your aches and pain remedies toolkit. Chiropractic care isn’t just for injury or pain management, it’s also a great preventative tool. The entire purpose of chiropractic care is to restore balance to the body and improve all movement functions of the body, meaning we optimize your spinal alignment to not only fix and manage your neck pain, but to prevent it altogether.
2. Chiroflow Pillow

Now this one is more of a secret, so much so that you can only get it through chiropractors. The Chiroflow Pillow isn’t sold in retail stores or websites, and can be bought exclusively at chiropractic offices (we sell it in our office). While there are tons of pillows out there that claim to be miracle workers for neck pain, headaches, stiffness, etc, THIS pillow is backed by the professionals.
What makes it so different? Well, for starters, it has water in it. Yes, you read that right. The pillow has three layers engineered for optimal comfort; a water base layer, a memory foam layer, and a cotton layer. Why water? Think about it; regular pillow stuffing shifts as you move, and then doesn’t shift back. You’re left with lumpy and uneven pillows that may or may not fit your unique shape. However water moves with you, and flawlessly contours to the exact shape of your head and neck, so that the pillow fit is completely personalized for you.
3. Movement

Movement seems to be the solution for a lot of things, huh? This is no exception. Neck stretches, exercises that strengthen the neck, back, and shoulder muscles (some of your muscles are large enough that they stretch beyond just the neck), and restorative exercises like yoga that work on stability and flexibility while boosting strength will be great preventative measures as well as remedies for existing pain.
4. Standing Desk

Remember that sedentary lifestyle we were talking about? Another unfortunate consequence of this is that we spend a lot of our time sitting and staring down at our computers. The implications for our neck are less than ideal. By not keeping our necks in their natural neutral position we’re straining our cervical muscles by keeping them in a stretched position for longer than they’re meant to.
By utilizing a standing desk or a desk riser, we can elevate our screens to align with our natural eye line and remove this unnecessary strain. Aka, goodbye neck stiffness. Here are two we recommend; VIVO 32 inch Desk Converter and Executive Office Solutions Portable Adjustable Aluminum Laptop Desk
5. Hydrate

Water is more important tea we could ever write in just a few short sentences here. Our muscles are kind of like a sponge. When we leave sponge out on the counter for a day or so without any water, it gets stiff and rigid, but when the sponge is wet, it’s flexible and mobile.
So, how much water should you drink? You’ll want to aim for half of your body weight in ounces total daily and you’ll need more in this hot summer Miami heat (especially if you’re spending time outside). Not hydrating sufficiently can lead to muscle tension and headaches, meaning increased neck pain and stiffness that can’t be fixed by just stretching. Do yourself a favor, and carry around that fancy $20 water bottle I know you have.
