Healing is a Process

Dr. Josh and I, fortunately, aren’t cookie cutter chiropractic physicians. We don’t prescribe a bulk number of visits or overpriced care plans. We’ve learned that EVEYRONE heals differently.
Sure, the medical textbook can tell us that a sprain/strain typically takes 4-6 weeks, a disc injury can take 3-12 months…etc. What these medical textbooks aren’t factoring in is the lifestyle and discipline of the patient, which makes all the difference.
There are so many factors to healing: the persons age, grade of injury, how long the injury has been there, what the patient does for a living, is the patient overweight, sedentary, active, drinking water, poor diet, and, most importantly, are they doing their homework?
Homework? Wait, I thought I Was Done with School?

We always hate to break the news to patients, but your health is YOUR responsibility, we’re just here to help it along. One adjustment isn’t going to “fix” your issue, just like one workout isn’t going to make you look like Arnold Schwarzenegger, or one salad isn’t going to make you lose 30 pounds.
Sure, we’ll treat you in the office and you certainly will feel better, but, if you ultimately want to heal quicker, DO YOUR HOMEWORK!
Do the daily stretches and exercises we recommend, drink half your body weight in ounces of water a day, choose healthy foods, stay away from beer…the list goes on.
Is Your Job or Routine Slowing Down Your Healing Process?

If you work in a laborious job (construction, painters, etc.) or won’t stop bench pressing 300 pounds, then you can bet that you’re going to heal a WHOLE LOT slower. Why? Because you’re re-injuring yourself every single day.
This also goes for desk-bound workers. Being sedentary at a computer is NOT going to help your neck or back pain!
We aren’t asking you to quit your jobs and chill on a beach drinking piña coladas all day (although that sounds wonderful), we’re just asking you to have patience with the healing process and know that you have a big role to play in your recovery.
Be Patient with Yourself & Your Healing
The big takeaway from all of this is that everyone is different and has different health constitutions. Be patient with yourself and your treatment and KNOW that you’re in good hands with us. We’ll help you get back up and running and give you the tools to heal as quickly as possible.
We’ve got your back!
