While the last couple of years could almost be likened to (going on) 1095 days of Halloween given how **spooky** our current world is and has been since THAT year (2020), this is the month where the spookiness is actually fun! With that said, I won’t talk your ear off about a healthy diet or skipping the alcohol or any of the other basic Halloween health blog topics. Lets be honest, it’s been a hard couple of years, and I don’t know about you, but I’m just happy to be celebrating without a mask this year. So enjoy yourself my friends. Eat all the candy your heart desires, then get back on track after your Halloween festivities.
However, I thought this month would be a great time to remind you of the spookiest thing of all: missing the chiropractor. Dun dun dun! Don’t do it, we’ll haunt you in your dreams. Not really, BUT here are three spooky truths about the consequences of missing your appointments;
1. You’re creating a reactive approach to your health

If you’ve read any of our blogs, chances are you know how we feel about this. NOT GOOD. When it comes to most things in life a proactive approach is almost always better than a reactive approach. When it comes to your health, that only becomes more true. If you’re missing your chiropractic appointments because “nothing is wrong” ask yourself, would you stop taking medication that was prescribed daily just because you felt okay that day? No? Then why are you treating your chiropractic care that way?
One of the most important truths of my beloved field is that nothing has to be wrong for chiropractic care to be an important part of your health management plan. Trust me, you’ll thank yourself for adhering to a proactive approach when you’re older and aren’t at the doctor every other week and on 87 medications because you took care of yourself in your younger years. Do yourself a favor, don’t wait to come see us until something needs to be fixed.
2. You’re undermining your carefully crafted care plan

BELIEVE me, chiropractic care wasn’t exactly one of those CPR certifications you can get in one weekend. No….to become a doctor of chiropractic care you have to go through a MINIMUM of 4,200 hours of study. That’s right, minimum. What’s my point? I know what We know what we’re doing. If we prescribe a certain frequency or cadence of care, it’s for a reason. Chiropractic care is not arbitrary. Please don’t undermine your customized care plan by missing sessions.
3. You could potentially be prolonging recovery/injury

As I said, Chiropractic care isn’t arbitrary. Which means that by undermining your care plan you’re not only potentially missing out on certain aspects of care that we intended for you, but you could actually be prolonging the time that you need to receive care. This means more money and time out of your pocket, for what could potentially be a lesser experience. That’s just not a good use of anyone’s time. Depending on your reasons for coming in, whether it’s due to injury or simply a proactive approach to health, missing sessions can at best dilute the benefits you receive, and at worst amplify negative effects of your condition. Let us do our job, and just show up to your appointments.
That’s all for now! I don’t mean to sound like your mom reminding you to do the dishes but….do the dishes. And by the dishes, I mean come see us!
