1. Chiropractic is Safe for All Ages

Chiropractors adjust newborn babies to 100 year olds!
Yep, that’s right, we can treat just about everyone with a spine! We see babies in our office every day that have colic, acid reflux, torticolis and so many other conditions that arise from a traumatic birthing process. Sometimes instruments are utilized to aid in the birthing process (forceps, vacuums, forceful pulling), which can add so much extra trauma to the babies fragile upper neck. That’s where we come in and help! Obviously our adjustments for babies and kiddos are a whole lot less forceful than they are for adults.
Children are common patients in the office as well. The most popular ailments we help with are ear infections, bed wetting, ADHD, anxiety, asthma, allergies, eczema (we cover diet a lot with this one) and scoliosis.
2. You Don't Have To Keep Going Back To The Chiropractor...But You'll Want To

You’re going to feel amazing, and your’e going to want to keep it that way.
One of the most common statements I hear from people who are inquiring about chiropractic care is that ‘if I go once, I have to go forever.’ You don’t necessarily have to go to the chiropractor for the rest of you life, just like you don’t have to go to the dentist or get your oil changed for the rest of your or your vehicles life, you just WANT TO. Once you feel the benefits of chiropractic care and you learn the importance of taking care of your spine, continuing your chiropractic care will be a no-brainer.
Of course, when you go to a chiropractor initially for an injury, you’ll be seen more frequently. This would be the same as the first time you ever go to the gym, you have to go more frequently to build up strength. Once all is well, you and your chiropractor will determine a frequency of treatment that fits your lifestyle.
3. Most Professional Athletes See A Chiropractor For Peak Performance

Michael Jordan, Tom Brady, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Usain Bolt…the list is endless of athletes that endorse chiropractic to help optimize their performance.
Why do you think all professional sports teams, Olympic teams, and collegiate teams all have a chiropractor on staff? Because they know the benefits of chiropractic care for optimal athletic performance.
Sports put a lot of strain on the body and getting adjusted regularly can prevent injuries from occurring, because your body is more balanced. Professional athletes are operating at a higher level of performance, much like a racecar that is also operating at a higher level. Both of these need more ‘tuning up’, so to speak. If you happen to get injuries, chiropractic care will help speed up your recovery, without any medications, to get you back in the game ASAP.
4. When You Hear The Crack Sound, The Chiropractor Is Not Cracking Your Bones

The cracking noise is really just air being released from the joint.
I’ve heard it time and again, ‘are you going to crack my bones, Doc’? Of course us chiropractors don’t really crack your bones, that would be counterproductive, because we’re here to help you!
The cracking sound is simply gas that builds up overtime inside your joints. When you are adjusted, the joint is moved and this gas is released, causing a popping noise. This is the same as a soda can or bottle that has pressure built inside and, upon opening, you hear a sound of the pressure releasing.
5. Arthritis Is 'Normal'

It’s true…arthritis really is normal.
You read that read. Arthritis is NORMAL! Arthritis, or degeneration, is essentially the wear and tear process on the bones and joints inside our body. This is expected as we age.
The PROBLEM that occurs is when this process is accelerated because of the patients lifestyle. Meaning that a 20 year old spine could have the appearance of a 60 year old spine. That’s when we run into trouble, and we see it much more often than you think!
6. Cracking Your Own Back Is Not Good

Self adjusting is never a good idea.
I’m literally CRINGING as I write this right now.
If you’re a ‘self adjuster’ then you’ve most likely been doing it for YEARS. In this case, it usually then seems almost impossible to stop, but you HAVE TO! If you’re just stretching gently and you hear a popping noise, that is most likely ok. It’s when we add force to the body to hear that ‘crack’ that it becomes a problem. I’ve seen patients that sit in a chair, grabbing and pulling forcefully and I’ve seen patients that put their hands on their head and push or pull…yikes!
I know that it feels good when you release that pressure in the neck or back, but these movements create hyper mobility in the joints (too much movement because you’re doing it SO many times a day). If it’s not a specific adjustment, it can cause some serious issues over time. Leave the back and neck adjustments for the professionals. In the long run, you’ll truly be happy you did.
7. Chiropractic Is Affordable

Staying healthy does not break the bank.
So often I hear that patients cannot afford chiropractic care. I totally can understand that medical care is costly, especially in the USA, but your health is SO important.
Chiropractic care is an investment in your health. A 7-year study showed that patients who’s primary care physician was a Chiropractor experienced the following results: 60% less hospital admissions, 59% less days in the hospital, 62% less outpatient surgeries and 85% less in pharmaceutical costs!
Health has to be a priority and many times we say we cannot afford something that betters our health, but we can certainly afford that new iPhone, new car, or 70-inch television. Prioritize your health and your body, it’s the only one you’ve got.
8. Chiropractors Go To School As Long As Medical Doctors

Say what?!?! Yepppp it’s true! We all have a 4-year undergraduate degree and a 4-year Doctorate degree…chiropractors just don’t do a residency thereafter.
I love the comparison photo above because it really lays out just how much we learn as chiropractors, so we’re totally equipped to help you in the best way possible!
9. Chiropractic Is Great For Pregnant Moms

Chiropractic care is so helpful for an expecting Mom!
Pregnant Mom’s (along with kiddos) are my favorite patients to adjust because they experience the true benefits of chiropractic care before, during and after their pregnancy. As the baby of an expecting Mom grows in size, this puts more pressure on the lower back, causing a shift outward in the Mom’s center of gravity, increasing the lower back curve.
In addition, ligament laxity increases, which causes instability in all her joints, including her pelvis and spine. This can lead to sciatica or lower back pain, which research shows can easily be relieved with chiropractic adjustments and muscle work. In addition, chiropractic care has been proven to speed up the natural birthing process as it helps keep your uterus relaxed and gives your baby a chance to get in the optimal position.
10. Chiropractors Treat More Than Just Back Pain And Headaches

While many patients go to a chiropractor for neck pain, back pain and headaches, that’s just a few of the many types of conditions we treat.
Most patients are surprised to find out all the non-musculoskeletal conditions that we can help with: digestive issues (aided with proper dietary recommendations), asthma, urinary incontinence, erectile dysfunction, insomnia, anxiety, allergies and so many more!
So, did you learn a few things?! Are you surprised? Chiropractic is truly amazing and can help with SO many different things. Questions or concerns? Give us a call, shoot us a text or send us an email and we’ll be happy to chat!
